Palin 2012?… Evita lives!

Excuse me I just threw up a little in my mouth when I typed that.  OMG … what an ego this woman must have … she cost John McCain untold number of votes (altho truthfully, I think the election would have gone to Obama no matter who McCain was forced to become bedfellows with) and then she has the nerve to consider running in four years?  Is it just me or does anyone else see the similarities between Palin and Evita Peron?  Pandering to those among is in the population who believe “gas guzzling” vehicles are their God given right, while corruption charges nip at her spikey heels and making promises that she never means to keep while dressing herself to the “nines” for the very same fans… I won’t carry the analogy as far as casting McCain in the role of Juan Peron, he’s better than that (altho’ he does look good in a uniform).

Thank God Barack Obama is on his way to the White House and from what I can see going about transitioning into power in an intelligent and careful manner.

Please take a look at this blog entry at Mudflats – she has the inside scoop on her governor’s machinations:

It ain’t over till its over

Yogi is a very wise and astute man.  When I find myself on the verge of optimism about Obama’s chances of becoming president in two days time, I pull myself back and review past elections and remember there is no coasting towards the finish line.  His win must be overwhelming.   But my optimism was fed just a tad about half an hour or so ago, when out of the blue (no pun intended) a McCain television commercial appeared during the Amazing Race, and it was a particularly nasty, slanderous type of commercial that was, in my opinion, nothing but lies and exaggerations.   Why would this commercial make me feel optimistic about Obama’s odds of becoming our next president?  Well, I live in Arizona.  Senator McCain is having to protect his home territory.  Apparently, even the red states are turning purple and if you aren’t careful will be blue before Tuesday night.

Like I said, I know… it ain’t over till its over …. so if you haven’t voted already, get out there on Tuesday and do so, particularly if you’re voting for Sen. Obama.

Education Carries Weight

I’m going to limit my political posts for a while.  I think most of us know for whom we are voting.  I’ll post political items when I believe they have some value.  The information below was sent to me via e-mail. I verified as much of the information as I could and it appears to be true.

The below is interesting reading - its Wiki, so it may change, but I found it an interesting read for the most part.  It makes him sound a little like W.

What does John McCain have against planetariums?

Was he scared as a small child by a shooting star?  Did he have a close encounter with a U.F.O.?  He keeps bringing up the planetarium projection system AGAIN as wasteful spending.  Spending on education is not a waste.  I will gladly have money spent to promote science.  OY!  Please refer to my previous post on this subject.  McCain really needs to make friends in science.

Something positive from John McCain

There have been articles in the media these past few days about the ferocity and just general rage being exhibited by crowds at GOP presidential rallies.   John McCain showed a glimpse of the sensible man he was before he was taken over by the pods today.  At a rally in Minnesota after a rather strong anti-Obama comment from a member of the audience Sen. McCain responded:

McCain shook his head in disagreement, and said: “No, ma’am. He’s a decent, family man, citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with (him) on fundamental issues and that’s what this campaign is all about.” . . . .  ”I have to tell you, he is a decent person and a person that you do not have to be scared of as president of the United States.”

Thank you, Sen. McCain.  My personal opinion is that Gov. Palin incites hatred in crowds with her rhetoric.  When she lacks facts and truth, she makes up for it by substituting fear-mongering and hatred.  Now next debate can we hear less attacking and more real information as to what both candidates are planning for our future – not what the other guy is going to do – what you are going to do.

Watch this please

For those who don’t know him, this is Craig Ferguson.  He is very funny, very smart and in this video speaks for me and countless others.  Craig’s rant is wonderful but if you don’t have time to watch the whole thing – go to the about 5 minute mark and watch from there.  Mr.  Ferguson, if you please:

Go Craig!!!!  BTW – Craig Ferguson chose to become a citizen of the U.S. this year (got 100% on his test!). I think naturalized citizens sometimes have a better understanding of what a privilege it is to vote.

If you want a transcript of what was said its available here:

Smokescreen Palin Obscures True McCain

I’m tired of hearing about Sarah Palin.  I’m more interested in the reasons behind McCain’s choosing of Gov. Palin.  Did he choose her because he thought she was the second best choice to be president of the United States?  (He, obviously, being his idea of the best choice to be president.)  If he did choose her because he thought she was best choice for our country, then we really need to start worrying about his abilities to make sound judgments.

Now, if he chose Palin, as I believe he did, because it was best for the McCain campaign, because he was thinking of himself first and the country second, then we truly have an insight into what kind of president he will be.  McCain has sold his beliefs to the political machine.  He is two faced when it comes to his family (just ask his first wife), he is two faced when it comes to our military (check out his record and also here),  and heck, he even voted against college scholarships for veterans (USA Today Article).  My favorite quote of this article, when questioned by Obama as to why McCain wouldn’t support helping vets go to college after their term of service (and mind you these are men and women who have lost so much and given so much to the country):

McCain responded with a sharp statement saying that he wouldn’t listen to any lectures on veterans’ affairs from Obama, “who did not feel it was his responsibility to serve our country in uniform.”

Isn’t that a lovely response, in effect he said “don’t you dare question me, you young whippersnapper!”  Arrogant, self-centered and uncommunicative.  And he never did answer, as far as I know. as to why veterans should not be assisted in furthering their education much like the WWII veterans were assisted.

Oh, and how about torturing prisoners of war – surely that is something the Senator would stand his ground on, no?  Nope – he sold his soul to the GOP machine – read here: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/17/

So I don’t want to hear anything more about Ms. Palin – I want to hear from John McCain.  I want to know where he stands and why.  I want him to explain his voting record in the Senate.  Sarah Palin is nothing but a smoke screen so we don’t see the man behind the curtain.  I look forward to the debates.

What is it?

a.  My reaction to John McCain’s RNC speech.

b.  The soul of Sarah Palin.

c.  A zombie computer mouse

d.  Shameless self promotion

The answer is c. and d.  You’ve heard of a zombie computer, well this is a zombie computer mouse.  Finding myself in a Halloween mood, I decided to carve a jack-o-mouse (from a computer mouse) when to my terror this appeared! The Zombie Mouse just kind of took over and I was compelled to do his bidding.  Frankly this thing frightens me – I don’t really like mindless, scary things (hence my aversion to the McCain/Palin ticket).  The Zombie Mouse was carved from a standard deceased computer mouse, had his insides removed and stuffed with black lace, glued back together, hand painted, sealed and placed on a black ribbon for ease of hanging. He does have that one pointy tooth so be careful – you know how zombies are… click on the zombie to get to my store.

Salieri or Mozart?

Tonight, Palin proclaimed she’s an average hockey mom.  Personally, I don’t want an “average” anything leading the United States.  I would hope we would want someone who excels at what they do running our country.  If she had said she was an exemplary hockey mom, or the best dang hockey mom she could be, then perhaps she might be qualified to run a small town or something.  But with that declaration, Palin told us she gets by, she doesn’t strive to be the best, she doesn’t attempt to excel – she’s just average.  There is nothing wrong with average.  I’m average – but I shouldn’t be allowed to run a country.  We have average right now (some might say below-average) – let’s strive to elect a president and vice president who are excellent.

Oh and another thing, if we’re going to keep the kids out of the campaign, let’s not parade them in front of America like a badge of honor of some sort.  We all have kids.  The 4 month old should not have been subjected to that level of noise and lights.

By the way, Palin views on the war in Iraq scare me.  Any time you believe violence against others is God’s will, I think you can end up with a zealot.  It was sort of a Bin-Ladenesque kind of thing to say, doncha think? Different religions, same way of thinking.  Madam Bin-Palin?  (sorry – that’s sort of a low blow but I couldn’t help it).

Alright, I’m through – no more political rants from me.  I tend to speak from emotion rather than intelligence on these things and I think we need more intelligent articulation of problems and less knee jerk reactions on both sides.
