A Celebration of Life

In case you didn’t read the comments to the Peter Kastner entry of September 28th, here is a comment and an invitation from Mrs. Kastner:

We are having a celebration of Peter’s life On Saturday, October 11 at 7 pm at the Winchevsky Centre in Toronto (585 Cranbrook, a couple of blocks north of Lawrence, off – and close to – Bathurst). Musicians (including Peter on video) will sing his songs, we’ll play some of his videos and remember him. We will have something potluck to eat, to stave off hunger at that hour. Please come if you can.

I’m way too far away to attend but I’ll be there in spirit.

I would hope that at some point in the near future somebody puts together a CD collection of Peter Kastner’s music which should include of course “the Water is Wide” the theme from “Nobody Waved Goodbye” and “Four Strong Winds”, the beautiful duet with Michelle Finney, as well as his more current material such as “Estevan” and “Testosterone”. Although much of his recent songwriting and singing focusses on political themes I was plesantly surprised to hear a little of the young Peter in his lovely and romantic “Lupita”. If it’s possible it might be nice to also include the audio from the “hoot” scene in “Nobody Waved Goodbye”. Perhaps an appropriate title for such an album might be “Peter and friends”.

  3. Peter did make two CDs of his own songs. If anyone wants one, they can email me at jennynews@sympatico.ca and I’ll try to get them to you. You can also find some on his YouTube site peterkastner.
